Mike and Tamara's Incredible Wedding!

Hello 2009! Mike and Tamara started oh-nine off with a bang! Thanks to Mike and Tamara for the inspiring opportunity to photograph your wedding, and thanks to all the creative talent that went into this artistic day! Holly Jarvis the amazing coordinator/planner extraordinaire! The flowers are stunning by the wonderful Jordan at Blum. Tamara's stunning make-up by Katherine Ross, Divine Designs Boutique is where Tamara found her stunning Monique Lhuillier gown. Tamara's gorgeous coat by Amai Unmei in NW. The always-amazing Portland Chinese Garden hosted the ceremony, while Olea in the Pearl district provided the perfect ambiance for the reception, with a delicious menu and great service! Erica and I had the opportunity to photograph Sarah, Luke and Lily in Seattle last week and we all had a blast! They are an incredible family and showed us a few great photo locations around Seattle, including this beautiful and secluded beach. The weather was amazing (Seattle...in December, really!) and so was the sunset. Lily makes an awesome model, and loves to discover new things in nature. She also brought her elephant friend, Ellie, who had a lot of fun on the beach as well! :)We're honored to be photographing their intimate wedding in January at the beautiful Suncadia Resort!

Ashley and I had a lot of fun creating her Senior portrait portfolio last week! We found great backgrounds and textures while walking around the Pearl District and Chinatown. These backgrounds create many different themes and concepts, which is something I always strive for when thinking about the overall story.. The more "looks" the better! Thank you so much Ashley and Doella (props to Moms) for choosing me to document this momentous time in your life! I hope you guys love the sneak peak!

I love everything about this set! The leaf actually landed on Kate during our photo session. I think the leaf picture would be great for the next album cover.. Don't you!? ;)

I was so honored when Kate Davis called and requested that I photograph her! Kate recently won the the NFAA scholarship and she needed some great photos, in addition to some fun senior shots. Congrats to you Kate and to all the graduating seniors of 2008-09! (shout out to my sister!) Kate just released a new CD and I highly recommend it! Kate is playing in and around Portland before she's off to Berkley or Juilliard or some other amazing college and you should definitely catch her live show! All the best to you Kate and I can't wait to see where this world takes you!

Quite the first dance!

The Governor looked awesome and yes, the cupcakes tasted as good as they look!;~)

The ring bearer and the flower girl were having fun while practicing for their big day!

The band was so energetic and fun that even a gorilla busted a move on the dance floor! SO Hilarious!

Jen and John are a super cool couple and recently tied the knot on October 18th at the historic Old Church and the always-elegant Governor Hotel. Jen looked awesome in her amazing gown and long veil and her bouquet added a lovely touch of Autumn with sunflowers and black dahlias. John was a dashing groom in his contemporary yet classic tux. The wedding was beautiful and emotional, with a reception immediately following that was anything but boring! The awesome band, 5 guys named Moe, was rocking all night long and everybody was dancing and having a ball! The gorilla is a family tradition in the Coughlin family and made a guest appearance on the dance floor! I was laughing so hard as he (she?) danced with all the guests and formed a train around the ball room. What a party! Jen and John, I hope you enjoy your honeymoon and this sneak peak! Erica and I had a blast capturing all the cool details like the feathers in Jenna's hair, the bridesmaids cowboy boots, and the candle lit ceremony and reception. Jenna is always gorgeous and wore a very chic mermaid style dress, and Brandon was dashing in a classic tux. The wedding was beautiful, emotional, fun and very Portland! Crystal and Patrick are an awesome couple that I have to give mad props to for suggesting The Vista House at Crown Point. The evening was perfect and we had a ton of fun hanging out and creating as many unique backgrounds as possible. This wasn't hard because we were in the Columbia River George, surrounded with surreal colors, rivers and a stunning sunset! (Yes, It's true that I have the best job evah!) It also happened to be Patrick's B-day... Not a bad birthday with a gorgeous view and bride-to-be! Crystal and Patrick are planning a Summer 09 wedding in Barbados and I know the wedding will be just as beautiful as this couple! Thank you so much Crystal & Patrick for choosing me to document your relationship in this magical place!

Joe and Michelle are a beautiful couple that recently tied the knot at The University of Portland Chapel with the reception at the beautiful Acadian Ballroom. The University of Portland Campus is amazing and we were lucky to catch patches of sun in between the patches of rain. Michelle looked beautiful in her Sottero & Midgley gown and Joe looked handsome in a classic tux. The wedding was elegant and fun and the dance floor was packed! The day ended with no rain and time for some great night photos on the streets of Alberta. Hope you're having a blast on the Honeymoon and enjoy the sneak peak!

I recently had the fun opportunity to photograph Brandy and Dave's urban E-Session at the Waterfront and Chinatown. I love this couple's great energy together and style. We had a great time getting the perfect shot of the Stag building sign! I was laying on the Burnside Bridge as Brandy &Dave kept an eye on traffic! (Thanks Guys!) Old Town Florist does amazing work!

I was honored to document Aerin and Jeremy's wedding on September 20th at the amazing Portland White House. This venue is one of my favorites in Portland for smaller weddings, located in NE Portland and filled with 17th and 18th century antiques. Aerin and Jeremy's wedding was incredible and matched the antiquity of the location. The details were immaculate and ranging from vintage skeleton keys, old post cards and medicinal labels, to museum relics and origami kits. It was eclectic and so unique. Aerin looked stunning in her Thread gown from The English Dept. Jeremy looked great in his slick blue and black pinstripe suit and very cool (supposedly haunted) tie clip. The ceremony was poetic and intimate and the reception was elegant and filled with great toasts, laughs and a lot of discovery. All the center pieces were labeled "Touch Me" so guests could browse old books, make an origami whale, or magnify historic diagrams.. I met up with Tamara and Mike over the weekend for their incredible engagement shoot! Mike and Tamara are getting married on January 19th, 2009 at the Portland Chinese Garden, with a following reception at the amazing Olea restaurant. We were all over Portland and rocked some great photos and had a blast doing it. The day was a bit rainy, but those days make for great skies and moody portraits! Fun with the wedding party!

I love the Shabby Chic feel of the barn, mason jars, and earth-toned colors.

The flower crowns are so cute for a rustic wedding!

I recently had the honor of photographing Rose and Jeff at the awesome Blue Rooster Bed and Breakfast in Eugene. I loved this venue for it's massive barn that was built in 1898. The barn was lit with lanterns and lights and candles and looked beautiful all lit up! Rose looked stunning in her J-Crew empire waist dress and the brown cardigan kept her warm and added a casual and comfortable elegance. Her necklace was from (my favorite store) Anthropologie. The ladies dresses were all super cute and from BCBG. The guys were styling in short sleeve shirts and dress pants, Jeff wearing a hip light brown suit. The style of the day was shabby chic and elegantly casual as R&J celebrated nature surrounded by it! The open window in the barn over their heads during the ceremony allowed guests to witness and marriage and a great view of the Lorane Valley! Their cake was yummy and darling with vintage-inspired birds and flowers made by the talented Sweet Life Pâtisserie. Thanks to Rose and Jeff and their friends and family! Enjoy the preview! Casie and Nic tied the knot (literally!) at the beautiful Lavender Pond in Bend, OR. Blue skies, sunshine, true love and a great bluegrass band.. What could be better? Casie was a gorgeous bride in her Jessica McClintock gown. Nic and Casie met working at Yosemite and their love together and their love for nature was apparent throughout their wedding. From the local DIY floral bouquets to the matching flip-flops this wedding was comfortably classy and super fun! Thank you both so much for inviting me to document your first steps together as husband and wife!

I recently had the amazing opportunity to document Chan and Dale's wedding last Friday in West Linn at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club. After dating for over 10 years Chan and Dale are SO in love and best friends forever! Chan looked absolutely radiant in her Maggie Sottero gown. Their colors of light green, chocolate brown and red-orange were a perfect play on the Pacific Northwest and the coming autumn. Their reception was rocking with professional lights and live music! Dale is a talented singer and actor and sang a song to Chan and her uncle as well as his parents. The organization of the day was impeccable because they treated the day as a stage production. Their coordinator is a local stage manager and kept everything on time! Note to brides: Find some local stage producers to help with the timing and coordinating! :) Thank you so much Chan and Dale for choosing me to capture your magical wedding, enjoy the sneak peak!

The Eco Trust needs very little decor. Jeff and Mona added white paper lanterns and live plants for an organic elegance.

Mona and Jeff tied the knot on August 31st at the Eco-Trust building in the Pearl District. Their wedding was elegantly simple, local and green! Phresh Organics catered amazing food, the flowers were all from local markets and yards and Mona found her beautiful Casablanca gown new on Craigslist! Eco-trust is a great venue with soaring beams and wonderous natural light. It was a beautiful Sunday on the roof top terrace overlooking the Pearl.. Amazing! I loved Jill and James's color palette of Magenta and Lime Green, super bright and fun!

The green apple is a great way to show table numbers or guest place cards in a creative way!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing James and Jill's incredible wedding on Aug. 30th at McMenamin's Grand Lodge in Forest Grove. Their love is so flirty-fun and Erica and I had a blast photographing this amazing couple. The flowers were all great and done by the talented folks at Geranium Lake. Jill looked stunning in her dress which was a beautiful San Patrick, by Pronovias gown. James and all the guys looked awesome wearing suits instead of tuxes, which I think works better for an outdoor ceremony and adds a cool and casual elegance. Jill enlisted help from her friend Matt who was the planner and did an outstanding job with all the details. I loved the NW flair they added with the apples, personalized CD's and the glowing lanterns. Thanks so much Jill and James for choosing me to photograph your awesome wedding. Lauren and Matt are a wonderful couple and have a great energy together! Their wedding took place on the eve of August 29th at the renowned Heathman Hotel. Their colors were deep red and turquoise and they reflected the modern elegance of the day. The flowers, dress, and invites were all designed by Lauren, and then outsourced, which is SO SMART! The cake and flowers were done by Lamb's. Great job guys! The best part of the day was heading up to the roof for some night photos. The view, the breeze, the clouds.. Chan and Dale's Engagement Session!

Dale and Chan are the proud owners of Sandy a 17 year old Golden Retriever and Rex Jones a fox terrier.

They are so in love!

Chan and Dale are getting married this Friday at the beautiful Oregon Golf Club. We recently met near their home in NW Portland at Tanner Springs Park with their dogs Sandy and Rex Jones. I love photographing at Tanner Springs because it's a little nature park in he middle of the bustling city. I am super excited and honored to photograph Chan and Dale's wedding on September 5th. Jill and Matt are getting married February 21st, 2009 at the Acadian Ballroom. We recently met for their e-session and walked downtown for a lot of unique photos. I love the "happy mishaps" of street shooting, like the woman in the window. I'm really excited for their creative wedding and know it's going to rock because they were really into getting great photos even if it meant breaking the law! "No officer I didn't see the yellow caution tape in the construction site! I swear! " We snuck in for a quick minute to capture an artistic juxtaposition between their dress and the environment, which I LOVE! Thank you so much Jill and Matt! I recently had the awesome opportunity to take part in the One Light Workshop by the ever-inspiring Zac Arias. Boone, of GabrielBoone Photography hosted it at the hip Parliament Design space in SE Portland. It was great to mix with talented photographers from all over including Mitch Kitter all the way from Anchorage Alaska (Where I photographed weddings in 2006-2007 with Chugach Peaks Photography.) Turns out we both know the extremely talented Brian Adams. Jessica Watson and I finally had the chance to meet and shoot together and Melissa McClure was great to meet from Cali along with tons of other gifted photographers! I learned a ton of neat lighting techniques and just purchased a few Pocket Wizards that I'm excited to start using
My favorite part of the workshop? Feeling a like a college student again (always a good thing ;) meeting all the cool peeps and learning the One Light motto "People are Happier When Their Lit." Ha!

Jenna's recent Peek-a-Boo shoot was ultra elegant and sexy! Jenna and Brandon's wedding is October 11th, 2008 at the Old Laurelhurst Church and Mississippi Ballroom. We were able to shoot throughout the amazing Portland White House Bed and Breakfast while no guests were in. The rooms are beautifully filled with mostly French antiques from the 1700's and 1800's. The romantic look was created with the help of Fada salon in downtown Portland. Sarah did make-up and Emily did her hair. The lingerie was both Victoria Secret and (my favorite) Oh Baby! Jenna found the gorgeous peacock feather stay-up stockings at Jane's Vanity. Jenna was looking for something sophisticated and elegant and all the elements came together perfectly! Thanks so much Jenna for being a fun and beautiful model and for letting me post these stunning photos of you~ I know you will be a beautiful bride! Can't wait for October 11th!

Two of my personal faves. Christy and James look so vintage Hollywood. (Well.. Vintage Portland is more like it!)

Christy and James are quite simply, amazing together. I was honored when they chose me to document their wedding, especially because Christy is an awesome children and portrait photographer based out of SE Portland. Check out her site here. James is an ultra creative musician and local music producer. Right after we first met I knew their wedding would rock because we were neighbors in the same hood (And all the cool local stuff of course! Shout out to the NE!) Their wedding was held on Aug. 8th, 2008 at the beautiful Adrianna Grand Hill Ballroom. We started at The Paramount Hotel for getting ready photos and Christy and James's first glance at each other on their wedding day before some romantic couple photos in downtown Portland. The wedding group met up and we had fun walking around the Park Blocks for group photos. The wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses and men's ties were all designed by local fashion designer Adam Arnold, a good friend of the Bride and Groom's who was also in the wedding party. His work is amazing and I love his clean and chic style. The floral styling was done by Quince, who's work I adore and love photographing. Their flowers are classic yet balanced with modern intricate details, like the green raspberries in Christy's bouquet.
The wedding colors were grey and light green with ivory accents. The green was carried pearfectly (ha!) throughout with tall cylindrical vases filled with European pears topped with floating candles. The pears came from Christy's parents orchard! Way to keep it local! The overall feel was vintage Hollywood with a modern NW edge and it was pulled off awesomely. From the photo booth, to the bird cage veil to the jewelery (all from Gilt) this was a creative and decisively local wedding which showed Christy and James's love of all things Portland... especially each other! Thank you SO much Christy and James for choosing me to photograph your stylish and fun wedding!

My favorite shot of the day!

Jenni and Mark's wedding was a beautiful and forever memorable celebration of true love. There wedding took place at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Chapel on Saturday August 2nd. The reception took place at the scenic Surfsand Resort on Cannon Beach. Jenni looked stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown and Mark was looking good in his Hugo Boss suit. The amazing Nicole Wagner did Jenni's makeup and I highly recommend her for brides! The colors were teal and black with a light hints of ivory and white. The ceremony was unique when the minister surprisingly read what Jenni had written about Mark and what Mark had written about Jenni without them knowing! Their family and friends were both laughing and crying and it made for a ceremony to remember! They drove off in a fun Spyder convertible and met the wedding party, friends and family on the beach for a champagne toast. My talented assistant Erica was with me and we had a blast with creative candids and portraits. The receptions was super fun with the dance floor filled, great food and drink! Renee and Tim's Artistic Wedding- July 26th, 2008

I love capturing the groom's face as the bride starts her walk down the aisle! Isn't Tim's face so sweet!?

Introducing the new Mr. and Mrs. Tim Luis!

It was pretty funny when we were shooting and one of the groomsmen's flasks fell out of his pocket unexpectedly. Oops!

This is the gate outside of the Custom's Building near the Park Blocks and I fell in love with it's vintage and classic look.

The color palette was a pale pink and black, which added a contemporary edge.

On July 26th Renee and Tim were married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NW Portland. The day was beautiful and so are the couple! Renee is originally from Portland, and Tim's from Ohio (Midwest shout out!) They now both reside in Tucson, AZ and planned this memorable event from the SW! WOW! Great job guys!

Renee looked stunning in her Mori Lee gown and Filippa Scott heels. She had it altered to include straps, which I thought was unique considering so many of todays gowns are strapless. We were able to get some fun wedding party and romantic couple photos along the park blocks on the way to the reception at The Lawrence Gallery in the heart of the Pearl District. I really enjoyed photographing at the gallery because all the guests were immersed in tons of amazing art. A few of the artist's included Salvadore Dali and Pablo Picasso.

The food was amazing (catered by Rafati's) and included fresh fruit, roasted veggies, prime rib, and lemon chicken. The subdued black and pink color palette looked great in the gallery, considering a lot of the art was brightly colored.

I'm so blessed to have been able to document your first steps together as husband and wife! Thank you so much Tim and Renee for choosing me to photograph your elegant and stylish wedding!

Danielle and Teddy's Slideshow!

Danielle and Teddy are truly a spectacular couple! I had the great opportunity of photographing their beautiful wedding in Historic Fayetteville, North Carolina on June 21st. Although the day started with rain, the evening provided some great couple shots. Note to couples... A great time to sneak away is after the cake cutting, while guests are being served coffee and dessert!

Their slideshow song is Frank Sinatra's "The Way You Look Tonight" a classy and timeless wedding song that's as sweet as it is swinging! (During the making of this slideshow I was constantly snapping my fingers and swaying to the music!... Good Old Blue Eyes!)

Kira and Jeremy's Unforgettable Beach Wedding!

Kira and Jeremy are an amazing couple! I love this artistic photograph of them. This is the type of shot I would consider as a large wall canvas.

Kira looked amazing! I love the vintage look of her bird cage veil!

Kira right before the ceremony.. A look of calm, a look of extreme excitement! She was so cute, bouncing up and down singing "I'm Getting Married!"

Ceremony was magical, especially with the sounds of the ocean waves in the background!

I loved the color palette of blues and oranges. It's so fresh and modern!

The cake was as yummy as it looks!

Kira and Jeremy wed on July 19th at the Oregon Coast. The ceremony was on Del Ray beach, and the reception was in a tent on the beach at the Best Western Ocean View Resort. I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the amazing Laura of New Moon Events on this wedding, which allowed for absolute rock star coverage! Eric of Hybrid Moon Video was making his well known movie magic as well, recording the personal vows and the fun-filled toasts for their video! I'm looking forward to seeing all the different angles captured!

Kira looked amazing wearing her cool bird cage veil with accented white feathers. This piece really made the wedding timeless and elegant with it's vintage charm. The colors were teal and corral, which is one of my new favorite color combos. (I'm actually thinking of adding a touch of corral to my logo and branding materials!) It's so vivid and fresh, almost unexpected yet very contemporary.

Jeremy and the guys wore tuxes and all looked very GQ! I loved the details of their day, the cool steel tubs holding the wedding programs, the neat round vases accented with one big flower, all these details were great to photograph and really pulled the event together. Awesome!

Congratulations Kira and Jeremy! Hope you enjoy the sneak peek and have an amazing time in the Caribbean on your Honeymoon! Thanks so much for the opportunity to document your amazing wedding day at the Oregon Coast!

Krista & Leif's Wedding Slideshow!

Krista and Leif's wedding was a happy and joyous event! I truly loved being there, as the energy of the barn at Hillsboro's Cornelius Pass Road House and all of Krista, Leif and Kai's family and friends, filled the place with smiles!

Kai is Krista and Leif's super cute baby and was very well behaved throughout the wedding.. although he did sleep through half! The couple started the day with a little music, and noticed Aphex Twin on their I-Pod.. Because I love a lot of his more down-tempo music, the song "Avril 14th" is a quietly happy and emotional piano piece that brought on tears while I was making it!

Kembwe Album Art!

I recently had the opportunity to photograph Kembwe, a local music project based out of Ashland, Oregon. Kembwe is the co-creation of Curtis Humphrey, creator of Kalpataru Tree, and Wahkeena Sitka, a mystical vocalist and a long time friend.

Together they are co-creating a psychedelic downtempo music atmosphere mixed with mystical poetics and a little bit of funk.

I really like listening to them while designing albums, or color-correcting images at my desk. It's super relaxing, yet mind-provoking music that seems to lessen the day's worries. Listen here.

I'm so excited to be a part of their album art and I really look forward to hearing the next release. You can check them out live, this Sunday July 20th at Emrg+N+See, a 3 day music fest in Salem, Oregon.

Tiffany and Busby's Slideshow!

Tiffany and Busby wed on June 14th at McMenamins Edgefields. The day was perfect with blue skies and the wedding was really fun! I started photographing the day at Ruby's Spa on the Edgefield property. There is a soaking pool in the back where the guys were hanging out before getting ready while Tiffany had her make-up and hair done.

The wedding was held in the Admin House's intimate garden. The family and friends celebrated with a great champagne toast and super yummy cake topped with fresh berries. The show is put to Mazzy Star's Fade into you, which shares the relaxed feeling with the day. I love this song, and I'm sure you'll be a fan by the end! Mini Vacation!

Welcome to Pedro Land!

Here I'm contemplating which Tchotchke to buy... Will it be the dream catcher (which doubled as an air freshener) or the expandable coin purse? Hmmm...

My wonderful partner Travis looking all movie poster-like.

You may be wondering if that's me sitting on a giant Jackalope, and me hanging with a orange dinosaur wearing a sombrero? The answer is yes!

Travis and I in front of Elizabeth's on 37th, which is where I ate the best meal of my life!!!

I wanted to share a few fun photos of my mini-vacation! After photographing the wedding in North Carolina, Travis and I decided to head to Savannah Georgia to check out the city. On the way down we spotted a magical and amusingly tacky city called "Pedro Land" located on I-95 in South Carolina. We had to stop to take some photos with all the fun colors and plastic figures and eat some yummy burritos! It was a blast!

Savannah was beautiful and really really hot! Since we only had two days there we decided to check out one of the top-rated restaurants in the South, Elizabeth's on 37th, which is located in a historic Antebellum mansion. The service was amazing and the food was so good that I literally was laughing with each bite out of pure happiness! We started with a delicious gazpacho (which you season yourself with fresh peppers and vodka) and a salad that had watermelon, queso freso, tons of fresh herbs and arugula in a light lemon dressing. My entree was an amazing rack of organic lamb cooked perfectly and seasoned with cumin and coriander! Yum-Yum!
I hope that all of you are having a great Summer filled with lots of friends, love and great food! Cheers!

Nicole and Michael's Slideshow!

Nicole and Michael's wedding was held on June 8th, at The Viewpoint Inn, a lovely venue located in Corbett Oregon overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. The entire day was perfect; amazing weather, perfect decor, delicious food and a wonderfully happy couple!

Nicole and Michael's first dance as husband and wife was set to Etta James's "A Sunday Kind of Love", a great love song filled with soul! It was nice to hear a different Etta James tune besides "At Last", which is undoubtedly a classic wedding song! Even though I've heard it over and over at almost every wedding, I still smile when it starts!

Danielle and Teddy are a match made in heaven! They both drew inspiration from Teddy's Air Force dress blues for the wedding color palette of navy and silver with a splash of light pink. The day was a little rainy to start, but during the dinner we were able to sneak into downtown for some great photos with the historic architecture of downtown Fayetteville North Carolina! We spent about 45 minutes wondering the small streets and the lighting was perfect! I really love the images taken near the clock tower. They are so Americana, don't you think!? The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Hotel Boudeaux which held the 160 guests perfectly with enough room to dance! Oh and they did! Teddy and Danielle tore things up on the dance floor! The party lasted well into the night with Teddy and Danielle closing the dance floor with a stunning slow dance! My thoughts are with you both during Teddy's time in Qatar. Thank you so much for choosing me to document your big day and for the experience of photographing in Fayetteville!

Krista and Leif's Wedding was a beautiful celebration of their love for each other and their love as a new family. Kai is their son, who has the most beautiful blue eye's I've ever seen! The wedding ceremony and reception were held at the historic McMenamins Cornelius Pass Road House in Hillsboro, Oregon. This 6 acre spot is filled with tons of color in nature. The couple read each other poems to express their love and devotion for each other. It was a really unique and special ceremony, considering they have already been married. Krista wore a very simple and eco-friendly hemp dress and both Krista and Leif wore their Birkenstocks! I loved how casual and fun this wedding event was and I'm so honored that they picked me to document their day! Thanks so much Krista and Leif and enjoy the sneak peak!

During the ceremony, Sarah's sister and cousins performed "All I Want Is You" a really happy and creative song by Barry Louis Polisar. You may recognize it from the movie "Juno" a super cute film with a great soundtrack.

Tiffany and David's Big Day!

Tiffany and David (who goes by Busby, his last name) wed on June 14th at McMenamins Edgefields. The day was beautiful and the wedding was really fun and filled with constant laughs and stories. I started photographing the day at Ruby's Spa on the Edgefield property. This spa is amazing and I felt really relaxed just by walking through the door. It's a historic house that's been renovated and filled with good smelling things, candles, music.. the works. Tiffany started her day with a massage, manicure and make-up at Ruby's and then we went over to get getting ready photos in The Admin House, which is also where the ceremony and reception were located. Tiffany wore a vintage Jessica McClintock gown and looked amazing! Busby and Tiffany had a small wedding with 60 of their closest friends and family attending. The wedding took place in the afternoon and was a really relaxed, intimate garden party. The colors were purple and green, and the added greenery of the gardens really make the scene. Busby, Tiffany and I all went out for a little game of golf towards the end of the evening and had fun on the putting range with the cool shadows and light. Thanks so much Busby and Tiffany for choosing me to photograph your fun garden wedding! I hope you guys love the teaser!

The ceremony location overlooked the Columbia River Gorge and created a perfect backdrop for the magical evening!

What a Night!

Thank you Nicole and Michael for choosing me to document this breathtaking day! Not only was this couple amazing, so was the perfect weather matched with a breathtaking view! The wedding ceremony and reception were held at The Viewpoint Inn a historic boutique hotel on Larch Mountain in Corbett, Oregon. I highly recommend this location if you're looking for a wedding venue. The rooms are all unique and charming, the view is amazing, the food was spectacular and the staff was super friendly! Their wedding colors were pink and white with hints of black, green and purple which created a classic vintage, timeless feel. Nicole looked gorgeous in her Nicole Miller gown, and completed the look with her Grandmother's vintage diamond bracelet as her something old! Nikki and Mike couldn't have asked for better weather! The day was a perfect 70 degrees and the sunset turned their special event to a once-in-a-lifetime sky of purples, pinks and blues. They played very cool music off their I-pod's throughout dinner including Edith Piaf, Regina Spektor and Neil Young. All the guests marveled at the beautiful sky and the elegant surroundings while having a very memorable evening of celebration! Nikki and Mike recently moved to Chicago where they are both Doctors. Their endless smiles and kisses illuminated the evening and created a great energy for all to enjoy! I couldn't stop smiling! Congratulations Nikki and Mike and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness! Enjoy the sneak peek!

What a great turn out! Thanks New and Blue for hosting the event!

Here are a few fun photos from this past First Thursday Event in the Pearl. Even though the weather was rainy and dreary (ahhhh, Portland!) the event was a total success! Sarah and Duncan are, simply put, perfect for each other. I had the awesome opportunity to be their photographer on June 7th at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale. Edgefields has a TON of great photo opportunities and Sarah and Duncan really gave me the time to go crazy with some beautiful images all over the estate. Their wedding had a very Portland feel with natural warm tones and a relaxed schedule. Both the ceremony and the reception were held on the grounds of Blackberry Hall, a converted vintage mechanic's garage, which made it fun and laid back for all the guests. The food was killer with a picnic BBQ style buffet including corn on the cob, ribs, potato salad and watermelon! Saint Cupcake made the delicious cupcakes for dessert. Yum! All the guests were wearing smiles the whole night, but I think Sarah wins the "biggest smile" award! Sarah's fun and expressive personality made it easy to capture candids throughout the day. She wore a Mikaella bridal gown from Charlotte's and looked absolutely stunning! The flowers were created by the amazing Anthony at Tommy Luke. Duncan and Sarah are both Doctors and I can see why; they're both very intelligent and care a lot about other people. The party kept kicking on with awesome music, including their first dance to Otis Redding's That's How Strong My Love Is... complete Soul. (Notice the capital "S"? yeowzers!)

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Lauren and Matt's urban E-Session in the Pearl District. I love this couple's great energy and style. Maria and Shane's Slide Show!

Recently I was honored to photograph Maria and Shane's amazing wedding at the famous Portland Rose Garden and Oba! in Portland Oregon.

Maria is from Brazil, and most of her family came to Portland for the wedding. Shane's entire family drove from Ohio! Now that's LOVE!

In honor of Brazilian music, I chose to use a song by Bebel Gilberto, the daughter of two very famous Brazilian musicians. Her father is Joao Gilberto, the man who created the Bossa Nova beat.

The song, titled Momento, is sung in Portuguese and although I don't speak any, I found a loose translation to the song online. Momento is about being in the present moment and experiencing it to the fullest.

This past weekend I had the great pleasure of shooting Maria and Shane's wedding at The famous Portland Rose Garden and Oba! in Portland Oregon. Not only was this couple hot, so was the day! Reaching highs of 95 degrees, the sun was shining for Maria and Shane! Maria and Shane both work at Adidas as designers even though they met in NY on an internship with Fisher Price toys. This couple is so in love and super creative! They made their own stencil for the champagne flutes and etched all of them together! Maria looked absolutely stunning in her BCBG MaxAzria gown. Her hair was done by Molly at Dosha Salon.. I love Aveda!

What's really great about Maria and Shane's wedding is that SO much family came into Portland for this momentous occasion. Maria's whole family came in from Brazil and France, Shane's entire family drove from Ohio! Now that's LOVE!

Kate Davis!

If you're a fan of Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nina Simone or any of the amazing women of the Great Jazz era, watch out for Kate Davis! At only 17 years old this girl can sing a tune that transcends time and brings you back. Her voice is heartbreakingly beautiful and I'm a huge fan of her stand up bass playing as well. I'm really lucky that she plays at Wilf's, which is located in the same building that my office is in, Historic Union Station. I tested out my brand new Canon 40D and I love the results! I'm still a true believer in my full frame Canon 5d though!

You can catch her play with the Ron Steen Band every Wednesday at Wilf's from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Her parents always record the entire set and pass out a free CD of her music. Her Dad plays in the band sometimes and it's great to see their dynamic! The bar is usually packed (good luck getting a server) and the atmosphere is a perfect blend of vintage lounge and up-scale modern, which compliments Kate perfectly!

Erica Davis!

I'm soooo honored to introduce my awesome new studio assistant, Erica Davis! Erica is a great photographer, highly efficient, super motivated and has a great attention to detail. She received a Bachelor of Art at The Brooks Institute of Photography in California and has worked with some amazing photographers including Adam Brown and Anthony Georgis. Erica also happens to be a certified Bikram yoga instructor and teaches classes in SE Portland!

Erica will be working with me a few days a week to help manage post-production, update the blog and website, design albums and organize client files. Our goal is to provide all clients with a seamless photography experience, amazing customer service and, as always, stunning images.

We are so excited for the wedding season! Please join me in welcoming Erica! Yeah!

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph the O-So-Fabulous Wedding Boutique: New and Blue. Located in the Pearl, this stylish shop offers great wedding favors, invites, cake toppers.. pretty much everything related to weddings! I had the amazing help of professional prop stylist and designer, Allison Jones. New and Blue is located on NW Hoyt and 13th in Portland. Blog Makeover!

Hi everybody! I decided that it was time for a Spring cleaning on the old blog.. No more teenie tiny photos!
I finally learned how to code the images to make them nice and big! I also made a few other changes, like my profile photo and watermark.
The title of the blog has changed from "The Scoop" to "Real Life Moments."

Jill + James = love!

Jill and James are a great couple I met back in October! Their engagement session was super fun and we had a blast walking around China Town and Old Town in downtown Portland. James was a bit nervous at first.. but I think after a few good laughs he warmed up to the camera! The Gilt Club was nice enough to let us in on their off hours for some great interior shots! I've always loved this restaurant and I've always thought it would be a great spot for a rehersal dinner, or small reception! Jill and James are tying the knot on Aug. 30th at McMenamin's Grand Lodge! Can't wait for the wedding.. Thanks guys!

Hi Guys! Here's a few of my favorite engagement shots from Renee and Tim, an awesome couple currently living Tuscan, AZ getting married in Portland on July 26th. The ceremony will be taking place at the historic St. Patrick's Church in NW Portland, and the reception following at the swanky Lawrence Gallery! The photos were so much fun! I photographed from the tops of trees to the depths of the natural springs at Tanner Springs Park to create some neat angles and great photos. Hi everybody! Here's a few fun photos from my April 6th festivities! Firstly, a super fun wine and sushi mingle with all the Perfectly Pearl peeps at Bay 13 Restaurant! Lynnette and Ken with Neighborhood Notes were in attendance in addition to Liza from Quince Flowers & Events (great bouquets!); Monica and Holly with Divine Designs and Hitched Events; My friends Mike and Tamara (whose 2009 wedding at Olea is going to be amazing!); Heip and Christina and friends (who won my Free 2hr. engagement photo shoot! Congrats guys!)and of course the talented Kevin Meyers!

Then.... I went out for some amazing dinner at Jake's Grill at the Governor Hotel with my good friends and fellow wedding photographers Katie Jervis and Laura Sonnenberg.. Too much fun! What a fabulous weekend!

The day before all this fun I photographed Heidi and Doug's spectacular wedding at The Portland Chinese Gardens..stay tuned for a few of my faves!

What a fun engagement shoot! Amazing, fun and gorgeous! What a great couple...Jenni, Mark and I all met up at my studio inside Historic Union Station to do an on-location engagement photo session! We had a blast running around the train tracks and on the Broadway bridge! I love love love these photos and I think Jenni and Mark are truly a match made in heaven! Thanks guys for the awesome opportunity to be a part of your wedding story!

We ended the day with some great cocktails and an impromptu photo shoot at Wilf's Restaurant and Bar. I'm so excited for their Cannon Beach wedding August 2ond! Yeah! Hope you love the preview! Cheers!

Phew! What a great weekend! The Perfectly Pearl Bridal Event was a lot of work and tons of fun! I was able to connect with so many great people and I'll admit, my booth looked fabulous! Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hi to me and telling me a little about your wedding! (I will announce the winner of the free engagement shoot soon!)

I also want to send a big Thanks to Blake of Magma for letting me wear the beautiful bubble necklace, made from hand blown hollow glass beads! They create little sun sparkles and would be a perfect bridesmaid accessory! Also, thanks to Wendi of Old Town Florist for creating my beautiful orchid flower arrangement! Such unique work! Wendi also specialized in using birch bark in her designs which I think are stunning!

After finishing with the Bridal Event at the Ecotrust building (also a great place to have a wedding!) I was in veg mode! All day Sunday I caught up on my Project Runway Season 4! It's reality TV, sadly, but so creative and interesting. My favorite challenge was where the designers went to The Metropolitan Museum of Art and were able to photograph all the art! How amazing! (I think Christian is the best!)

What a Wedding!

Leslie and Tom's February 1st wedding was amazing! The ceremony and reception were located at The Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom in downtown Portland. The room was warm and uplifting like Leslie and Tom's love story! Both of them are survivors of near-death experiences, Tom's in the war in Afghanistan and Leslie's in a car accident. The chaplain who performed the ceremony had once read Tom his last rights, but today Tom's wedding vows to Leslie. Wow!

The ballroom was glowing with beautiful details, the cake was made by Beaverton Bakery, who I highly recommend! I love their cake topper! Leslie's Mom, Gloria (an awesome woman and real-estate agent!) gave an emotional toast that spoke of the angels that surround the couple, and I think everyone could feel them for a moment. I surely did! Such a gorgeous day! Hope you like the preview Tom and Leslie!
